I do business in CC about 3 times a year and Im looking for more places to eat. When I'm out with clients I end up at Water Street or the Vietnamese place down the street. One dinner at Republic of Texas. Been to a few chains near the hotels, but wanted some places not downtown.

Recently tried Peoples, it was good, but service was a tad slow. Suggestions for a traveler dining alone? I can only have Mexican so often...

These are all great local restaurants that I would recommend:

Luciano's at 6 Points.
Mama Mia's downtown, (expensive, cash only, very authentic. Owner smokes from a pipe in the restaurant, ha!).
Mesquite Street Grill downtown.
Niko's Steakhouse on the Southside.
Kikos on the Southside.
Pier 99 on North Beach.
Wallbangers in the central part of town.
Snoopy's Pier on the Island.
RailRoad Seafood Station SEA District/downtown border, (also a micro-brewery).
Kuzina Mediterranean Grill on the Southside.
Yo's Philly Cheesesteaks on North Beach, (very hole in the wall).

These are all great local eateries that I have been to.

All good suggestions ^^^^

I'll add
Drunkn Noodlez on Alameda.
Yalee's Asian Bistro - Pick up in Corpus Christi - ChineseMenu.com on the Southside.
http://www.gingercafecc.com/ on the Southside.
U & I Restaurant - Seafood Steak House Bar & Grill - Voted Best of the Best Dining located in downtown Corpus Christi. close to downtown. Sort of funky, but good steaks, burgers and enchiladas.

They're both good. Going to the U and I is like stepping back in time about 20 years. Ginger Cafe is really good but fairly expensive.

Ah, you are in my neck of the woods. There is not much out in Calallen/Annaville. It is pretty suburban. There is A1 Steakhouse, K-Bobs, Chili's, Nolans, Denny's, Taqueria Guadalajara, Big Sams, and Peoples.

Out of all of that, the only places I would recommend is Nolans or Guadalajara. Big Sams is only good for wings or burgers.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Blackbeard's.

And the Beach Lodge in Port A has one of the best burgers in Texas.

I would recommend a local favorite called The Yardarm - it's a small house on Ocean Dr that has been in business for 30 years. Excellent Food and Service. They don't advertise because they stay full without it. I recommend reservations. You can specify an Ocean view if you like. Prices may be a bit above Water Street, but even though the Yardarm is an older place - it's a quieter and better suited for a business dinner. I don't believe you would be disappointed. It's a lovely drive all the way down Ocean to reach the Yardarm. They have an outdoor/water view area for drinks if you like. Pretty spot.
