We'll soon be moving to the Calallen area and would like to find a gym to join that is either close to home or work (downtown) or in between. In other areas we've lived, we've been happy with Lifetime Fitness and LA Fitness. If you are familiar with those, and have gym suggestions in CC, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks in advance.

I've used Planet Fitness and Freedom Fitness. The rest of the gyms are isolated to Corpus, and so when I'm out of town for work I wouldn't have a gym to go to without a membership in something more broad.
They've got spinning and zumba classes amongst other things if you do that.
However, if you don't travel, some of the small independent guys will work just fine for you. Pick the ones near work or home and try them out.

I used to live in Calallen. There are no good gym choices. The only gym in Calallen is Landshark Fitness, which is local. The prices are high, there are yearly contracts, and the gym/equipment is old. The nearest Gold's Gym is 20 miles away on the far south side and Planet Fitness is 15-20 miles away. Other than that, there aren't many choices.

I used to just work out at the gym at my work, downtown. There are no LA Fitness in Corpus and I am unsure if there is even a Lifetime.

A friend works out at Landshark in Calallen and she really likes it. I've never been there so I don't have a personal opinion. There's also a gym downtown called Allgood Fitness (I think) but I don't know anything about it, either.

While we're on the subject of gyms, how about any recommendations for fitness classes (cardio-kickboxing, pilates, cross-fit, interdisciplinary...) that are closer to the Island. If not a gym or specific outlet, even a good community center that might hold fitness classes. Any recommendations for such things on N. Padre? Flour Bluff?
Thanks!
