Possbily moving to CC from Central Florida. Many homes have screened pools here and I believe that 1 of the 40 homes or so in our price range there have a screened pool. Is it the high winds? Lack of leaf-dropping trees? Lack of mosquitos? Baffled

I suspect the wind speed. Its higher around Corpus, making screening less necessary for keeping mosquitoes away. Also wind damage to a screened structure could be more common around Corpus.

Screened pools is a Florida thing; it transcends that it's because of bugs. They still don't keep out noseeums.

The engineering and construction necessary to have a screen that would be insurable basically means your halfway or more to an indoor pool. Normal wind speed means that if you are wet you are also cool.

I'd say it has a lot more to do with little swamps, sandy soil, and averaging only 32 inches of rain a year. CC doesn't have the Florida type breeding grounds.
