Breezes (Portland: apartments, houses, neighborhood)

How far inland can you feel the coastal breezes? I have read that Portland has great bay breezes and of course, Padre Island and Flour Bluff. I am wondering specifically about the Southside. Coming from interior Central Florida, I am quite used to heat and humidity, but would love to be in a place with near constant breezes.

Lived there 20 years; depends- if in a neighborhood 1 or 2 miles away from coast, all the other houses and trees will significantly diminish the 'average breeze' felt at ground level; better if up on 2 or 3 story apartment balcony facing south.

Avoid being "downwind of the 'Oso'" ! apartments/houses certainly cheaper there!

Thanks for the reply! We are looking at houses, so I guess if we choose the Southside, we won't get many breezes. What area is considered "downwind of the Oso?" Certainly doesn't sound pleasant! Is that the middle of the east side of Southside, between Oso Parkway and SPID?

Google OSO water treatment plant (sewer) in Corpus; ocean breeze usually blows from the south & SE ....

A bunch of changes have been made to the plant to get rid of the smell. You can get smell from detritus in Oso Bay or the Laguna though.

I live on the Southside and we get PLENTY of coastal breezes here. Since I'm not quite used to it yet, all the wind gets a little annoying actually. It is a sanity saver though in the summer when the heat and humidity is way up there.

Almost always a 1-2 club breeze in Corpus.
