I've noticed that places like Whataburger will give you canned drinks in lieu of fountain sodas. My mom said that Lubys allowed fountain drinks since their ice comes from San Antonio. How are restaurants handling this? I absolutely refuse to pay $2 for a bottled water, so I'm naturally curious of places to avoid if this water boil situation lingers.

Well, wherever you go you can decline a drink. The restaurants have to abide by what the health department is telling them and so they're serving canned sodas and no tea or lemonade made in house. You can spend what they're asking for their drinks or go without.

Yes. Agreed. I did refuse a soft drink the other day. I have also been drinking the tap water and I feel fine also. I miss my favorite Whataburgers with fountain drink and Starbucks. I really appreciate the ability to have water from a tap when it eventually does come back.

Fountain drinks at $1 give a similar margin as canned drinks at $2. The restrictions hammer profits for restaurants. Every single one of them wants it over.

We have all been drinking tap water and using it for everything and feel fine. It smells strongly of chlorine today though so I'm not going to drink it.
I do feel sorry for the restaurants and their employees. The CC leadership is a mess.

There was low chlorine in it for about a week and they issued a boil advisory. It's corrected now. They didn't detect anything harmful but did so as a precautionary measure.
