Im based in austin and have a rental condo. I need a key made in corpus. Does anyone know of a locksmith that can just enter the serial number of the original to have the key made and delivered to the condo office?

Services like keyme will do it, but take 3-5 days.

thanks!

I don't know of any such service. But why don't you have a copy made of the key that you have and FedEx it overnight to the Condo?

Most locksmiths can look up the coding for certain keys (usually for cabinet locks, drawers, padlocks, etc), but I'm not sure if this would work for a regular door lock.

pop a lock woman on the phone said they couldnt do that. So I had the locksmith come out to rekey the lock. But then the locksmith called and asked if I by chance had the serial number and was able to make a duplicate using the code instead of rekeying the lock. They all pretty much have machines that can do this.

Services like keyme let you even take a picture of your key and then send you a copy. Had to be ASAP as the tenant was locked out.

Annoying. It isnt like a locksmith has that many services, you would think the person on the phone would know.

Pop A Lock is like the Walmart of locksmiths. They are cheap and offer poor service. A locally run locksmith shop probably would have been able to offer better service.

I called 7 numbers. pop a lock was one of only two places that actually answered their phone. The other place also said they could not create a key from the serial number. Plus they werent nice about it.

That's really a shame. I'd leave them negative reviews online.
