This is a brand new house. Yesterday, I noticed several hairline cracks on the ceiling of kitchen, dinning room, living room and master bedroom. They are appear at the corner and on the kind of drop ceiling (I do not know how to exactly describe this type of ceiling). I attached them. Please help to check. Are they serious? If they are caused by structural issue or settlement? We have kind of strong wind here. We went to the attic several times to check the mice. Thank you. Really appreciate any suggestions and thoughts.

If it's new construction, look at the contract with the builder. There may be some recourse in that.
Houses do settle, and new construction in new areas can be worse. Plaster cracks aren't necessarily foundation problems, but you might need someone to inspect it.

Most likely settling. I imagine far Southside? South of Saratoga it's not uncommon to see 8 inches of shift on a non fill stabilized foundation. Even heavily fill stabilized buildings can see a few inches of settlement. It's been super dry recently so soil is shifting. I've seen cracks in drywall on commercial buildings with 8 feet of select fill under them in that part of town.

Can happen anywhere though. That big rain in the Summer cupped my hardwood floors in my pier and beam house and they are just now flattening out from moisture loss.

Should not be serious. Might call the builder and ask if they have a guy who could just come by and paint over it if it bugs you.

I think you're feeding your mice too much - sounds like they're getting too fat to keep them in the attic anymore; just move them to the back yard so they don't crack your ceilings anymore . . .

IF you're not feeding them too much, did you remember to put on your fuzzy bunny slippers before going walking around in the attic? Regular shoes can cause ceiling cracks.
