I will be in Corpus Christi next week and need to get a few runs in as part of half marathon training. I'll be staying at a Comfort Suites where S. Padre Island Dr. and Ennis Joslin Rd intersect. Would running north up Ennis Joslin Rd and then running either direction on Ocean Drive be good places to run? Are there sidewalks where one can run on those roads, and is it a fairly safe area?

I don't want to have to drive somewhere to run, I want to be able to walk out of the hotel and get my runs in. Runs will be 6 miles total, so I'd do a 3 mile out and back from the hotel. On Sat I may get in a 12 mile run so that would be a longer 6 mile route out and back.

Thanks!

That's your best route - Ennis Joslin to Ocean Dr and then head toward down-town. I think you have sidewalk all the way - probably bike path also. It's a beautiful run, often see runners along there and it's very safe. You would be running it the Ritzy area of town by the homes of Millionaires .

Awesom, thanks! Just wanted to make sure I would end up running on the curb dodging roadkill and semis. Appreciate that it's a safe area as well.

If you turn right toward the US Naval Air Station & Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi - you can run around the edge of the Campus on their Jogging Trail.

This is a map of the Campus
It's probably about 1.5 miles from your hotel to Ocean, not sure about Bike paths or sidewalks on Ennis Joslin, but there are many around town. There are some small parking lots along Ocean Drive, if you want to park/run.

I double checked my info on the run toward town - there are sidewalks and a Bike Lane all the way to town. My 70 year old brother in law bikes from Port Aransas to SPID and then up Ocean Dr, across the bridge to Portland and then to Gregory, Aransas Pass and across the Ferry back to Port Aransas .... regularly.

Snoopy's Pier is a pretty popular place to eat and not far from where you are staying.

Ennis Joslin has sidewalks through the entirety. Ocean Dr does on both sides for almost all of the length.

Thanks. Just came back from a run down Ennis Joslin. Ran down and up through A&M yesterday as well.

Enjoying Corpus Christi. Ate at Doc's last night which was outstanding.
