We RV full time and have a place at Port A. A lady once asked me where they could get some really good seafood...besides shrimp. I asker her where she was from and she said Washington State on the coast. I told her to turn around and go back as she had left good seafood behind or move on to New England shoreline where they know how to do good seafood. Here in the CC area if the menu has catfish listed as seafood or any variation of the word seafood...RUN! If I want catfish I will get one from the pond in front of my motorhome. Joe's Crabshack in CC had a pretty fair clam chowda.

Default Black Diamond Oyster Bar Corpus Christi

I'm grateful for the responses, but I was surprised that the Black Diamond Oyster Bar in Corpus wasn't mentioned. It was a great local place back in the 70s. I checked a web site and found that it had moved to South Padre Island Drive and had great reviews as the best place in Corpus where the locals eat seafood. We're leaving for Corpus and Rockport tomorrow (had to postpone the trip a week), so I'll post a review when we return.

Default Seafood & More in Rockport

For the comment about Charlotte Plummers, it is better now and worth dining there. For a fun experience go to the Boiling Pot; for an all you can eat extravangza go to the Big Fisherman's on Tuesday or Thursday. For a really local cultural spot, you must go to Pop's. It is on the way to Goose Island State Park, maybe not the BESTEST ever, but a cool joint & all you can eat Catfish on Thursdays. The Poor Man's Country Club has the best burgers and a great view of Little Bay. The best Mexican haute cuisine go to Los Comales for the best TEX-MEX go to Arandas. Also the China A buffet (new in Rockport) has all you can eat crab legs and oysters on their evening/dinner buffet. If you like those, you will really enjoy China A.
Captain Benny's is another seafood place, but overpriced and overrated in my opinion. Stay away from Hu-Dat; maybe once good, but not now.
Go to Port Aransas to Virginia's for more good times. So many restaurants in Port A are worth going to just because! And ride the ferry, its free and fun--look for dolphins, if riding ferry at night look down over side at dockside and see the bull reds under the lights in a no fishing zone. Bummer.

Stay on Fulton Beach Road at The Inn at Fulton Beach, or The Lighthouse Inn.
