If you think Rockport is beautiful I have no clue where you have lived. The beach is one of the worst I have seen. The town itself is average at best.

This is true ,, I spent 20 years there also ,, tried to go many times. I am from Port A .. would have to live there when I would be really busy with my horses.. I agree with everything said here above .. I have been gone for three years .My horses live in Flour Bluff, farther away but worth it in no more traffic fines /intimidation for no reason .. I had taken the police to task when my divorce judge years back ordered my ex husband to get his things and leave , with law enforcement watching him he took everything I and my youngest daughter, had including my clothing, laptop , Tv EVERYTHING .... the cops at first denied this , then asked me if I was calling them a liar ( their words) ( I was there to file a police report on this) . Afterwards , I was stopped repeatedly.. I am still paying off fines . I tried to fight one and that made it worse . I'll never live there again...

Rockport may have been in the path or hurricanes more than Houston but the barrier islands and low water levels in the bay ( you can walk for miles in the bay) mean much less damage. I've been here for 3 of them and should never have evacuated except for the loss of electricity. Electric service is poor and if a bird sits on a electric line after he has eaten that's enough to stop power.

Angry Corruption corruption corruption in rockport/fulton!

I am a freelance investigative photojournalist who was in the process of moving to Rockport when all HECK broke loose on me! I was digging up all kinds of stories on the local aransas county sheriffs department and rockport police, They got wind of it and proceeded to surround me on a deserted road in front of the Inn at Fulton Harbor and brutalized me. They then charged me with resisting arrest. The story is far from over and includes children being molested, innocent men in prison, and so much more because of corruption in the Rockport Fulton Tx area. I need help and any information that anyone else can contribute to put these little men in cops clothes behind bars including a CORRUPT JUDGE In the area. [10 post to link off site]

County - 0.2348 (0.2793)
City - 0.2443 (0.2549)

These taxes look pretty good for Texas . There was also about a 9% reduction from 2005...I suspect that was a greater than 9% increase in property values.

Note that there will be some high insurance rates for this area......

If one looks at the thread "Corpus Area Schools" the ratings and tax rates are there. Rockport-ACISD is among the lowest and the district among the best in the area.

Except for petty crime - other crime is low. Many years there are no murders at all and those that happen are people who know each other- fights over husband etc, one over not being paid for work.

Aransas County does not allow polluting industry as Corpus does. It attracts quality people -that's why its growing while Corpus isn't. Rockport does not have gangs or gang graffiti. Rockport could use more access to the water in the south part of the county but one can't have everything.

My husband and I come to Rockport every winter from Illinois.
Guess luterian does not know much about Rockport as I have spent alot of time there and it is gorgeous. He sounds like a
grouchy old man that has nothing better to do then complain about everything. The beach is a nice place to sit and relax. And if you think the crime rate is bad there, then move to Chicago, Ill. And give yourself something to complain about!!
