weather is very very mild right now. you missed several PERFECT days (the last two days, of 83 degrees and sunny)...now its just very mild, humid, and VERY VERY FOGGY. i just drove home from work and you cant see even a few feet in front of you. expect fog, mild temps, possible rain, and cloudy days in the next few days. dont need a jacket thats for sure

Not sure what questions to ask Marlow....Do you like it there ?
I was just there the other day...seemed decent enough. Making an offer on a home tonight near Saratoga and Airline. Do you know the area ?
I loved living in Phoenix....do you think we will like CC ?
I'm in GA right now and really do not like it much.
If you can think of any useful info that would be great.

I do like living in CC for the most part. As I've gotten older the heat has started to bother me more, but if you loved Phoenix and have lived in Georgia, at least it won't be a surprise for you.

It's hard to know where to start. If you like water-related activities such as surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, sailing, kayaking, fishing, birding, etc., you'll be happy and stay busy all the time. Other things to do include minor league baseball and hockey, a symphony, two small ballet companies, community theatre, a very nice art museum, a science and history museum, Asian cultures museum and several seasonal festivals. Some relatively "big" names come to play music and do other entertainment stuff. For example Sheryl Crow, the Blue Man Group, Cher, Snoop Dogg, Shakira, the Cheetah Girls, Hilary Duff and Los Lonely Boys have all played here in the last couple of years. And of course there's all the Tejano music you could want.

CC is very relaxed and laid back, which can also be seen as having a "manana" attitude. City government is weird and so far incapable of deciding on a development direction for Corpus. As long as I've lived here there has been a discussion about how to develop downtown, but it's never happened. You can join in the discussion when you get here!

The area where you made the offer on the house is known as the Southside, which basically is anywhere south of South Padre Island Drive (S.P.I.D.). That area has boomed in the last 10-15 years. I go over there to shop and stuff, but live in the older, middle part of town. You'll have quick access to the beach from there. And there's a saying that you can get anywhere you want in Corpus in 15 minutes. (It used to be 10 ).

Some more random thoughts: There's lots of good Mexican food, and other good food, too. Oddly, there are only two sort of lame malls, but lots of strip malls out there on the Southside. And only two movie megaplexes and one dollar movie theatre. You can't get a good bagel or "real" pizza, according to my East Coast friends.

I can't really predict whether you'll like it here or not, but I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have. Good luck on the house deal.

I'd like to find out more about the weather. For example, how hot does it get, how cold does it get, how hurricane prone.

I've heard to much about Texas being hot. I used to live in Sacramento, where it could stay in the 100s for weeks at a time. I also lived in West Africa for a couple of years. I can't imagine Texas being worse than either of these!

Default Areas around CC

Marlow
From someone who has lived in the area a while which areas outside of CC would you recommend. We are looking for something a bit rural. Job offer in Port Aransas. Two daughters so schools are an issue. We currently live in NC so the weather is not a big surprise. Use to heat. Thanks for any info.
