The only place we ever eat is Seafood and Spaghetti Works, but it has more of a family atmosphere than a date atmosphere. But the shrimp in lemon cream sauce sure is yummy...

If I were you I would switch it to CC and have dinner at the Republic of Texas which is in the Omni Bayfront (rooftop dining). Reservations recommended and they have valet parking.

You can also go to the Trip Advisor website and read Port A restaurant reviews. Everyone had nice things to say about the Venetian Hot Plate.

If you feel the date going well enough, you may not leave the building? *wink* *wink* Seriously my wife and I stay there when we visit and we always get a Bay View suite. Very nice and romantic and they have an indoor and outdoor pool.

In all honesty Port A leaves a lot to be desired for eating even though they are on the Gulf COast... Buy your own fresh shrimp and cook it yourself.. there are many restaurants on the main drive by the Ferry... Just pick one... I have been there 5 times and not enthralled with the island cuisine and I am a native TexaN

If Corpus becomes an option, would it be too obvious to suggest Water Street Seafood Company? That's my favorite place to go in Corpus, and you have to have a salad with their dressing that is their specialty, though I can't remember what it's composed of. Dang, now I want to go down there...

A couple of recommendations:

Venetian Hot Plate - Good Italian food (with some steak and seafood options), nice atmosphere.

Beulah's at Tarpon Inn - Primarily seafood, great service, relatively upscale.

Also, if you are looking for a lunch spot, try Shells, it is a little hole in the wall (actually a trailer, I think ) that has a surprisingly good selection. I remember the Black Angus burger on foccacia being particularly good.
