Saw Corpus Christi listed in Forbes Magazine as having one of the highest crime rates in the country. It was listed as #188 which is certainly at the bottom of the city rankings.

Is Corpus Christi really that bad? We had it listed as one of our top retirement destinations for permanent relocation but are now having some serious reservations.

We've researched Corpus Christi on the internet and visited it about 20 years ago. We would be visiting Corpus and nearby cities and towns in the fall of 2007 prior to deciding on a city. With this ranking, it is now certainly dropping to the bottom of our list.

What is the opinion of Texan's who know Corpus? Is the crime rate really that bad? and is the city so bad that it deserves to be at the bottom of Forbes' list?

Poor Corpus. Weren't they just reported to have the worst drivers in the state, too? Sounds like they are having a tough year.

Wow!
Highest crime rate and worst drivers are not a list any city wants to be on. Being on 1 of these list is bad but 2 is real bad.

Default Not Hardly....CC is great !

I agree with belle.....I haven't seen much crime or have I felt unsafe at all.
My whole family will walk in downtown and we have not felt unsafe there at all.
So far it's a great place to live.
We lived in Savannah before here also and that was a total ghetto!

Wow, definitely didn't know that! I LOVE Corpus though! I go there a couple of times a year to visit family. Kind of hard to believe.
