Funny CC gets these low paying jobs but why doesn't it grow? The answer is because the refineries make for an ugly town and the chemicals they produce are toxic. They have been fined and punished by the EPA but only people with their heads in the sand - aren't aware.

Rockport, 23 min north, doesn't allow polluting sources and it attracts more educated folk and provides better schools. Hence it is growing many times faster than Corpus.

It will be interesting to see the impact of the Las Brisas plant here in CC. I know there are a couple of enviornmental groups trying to get it delayed due to air quality permits (which for now has been thrown out by a judge), I wonder if we will se some exponential growth in this area. Hopefully, these refineries will start to "green up" some, although I am not going to hold my breath.

With the north winds of the past few days, it has made my commute from Portland to Calallen/5 points wonderfully smelly... lol. I should try driving on the Joe Fulton Corridor on the north wind days, but my commute time is quite a bit shorter taking the 181/I-37 routes to my job. All well... I suppose if the toxicity levels are high enough from the fumes coming out of those refineries, if I mutate, perhaps I can make money off my uniquities, or do like many others do in S. Texas.... SUE!!!
