Lots of people think Portland is a good place for raising families. The schools have a good reputation and it has a wonderful swimming pool and a skate park. It's also a short commute to CC.

We live in the older, central part of CC and are happy with our neighborhood and the magnet school our daughter attends. There are lots of variables and it just depends on what you're looking for. But coming from California, you'll most likely be amazed at the low housing prices and lack of traffic, no matter where you live.
