Since City-Data has a Corpus Christi forum, that seems like a better place for this thread.

Default Beeville,

My family is from there. Small town,30,000. 45 miles from corpus.
Bee county seat. Naval station there, sandy soil, primarily ag business.
Not much else. Small farm and ranch comm. Jet fighter plane on county courthouse lawn.

Didn't the naval air station shut down years ago? There's a huge state penitentiary there and I think it's the main employer. Other than that, I think it's just a small Texas town.

Good dove hunting, too. Good quail after a wet summer.

I recall Beeville being on the final BRAC closure list a couple decades ago. Much like Kelly AFB, it was closed and a substantial amount of the work the base did was privatized and stayed at the base after it was decommissioned. I imagine that despite the closure, only a minor portion of the activity left town.
