Hello,
We plan to drive down with two kids over Spring Break and spend a few days in Corpus Christi. We want to stay on the beach, but looking at the map, there are hotels on N. Padre beach and on the beach on both sides of the USS Lexington (Northshore Blvd). Is one beach nicer or will one more likely have fewer college students? Also, do the Northshore beaches have waves, since they are in the bay?
Sorry for so many questions, but when you are on a budget, you want to make the most of your small vacation!
PS Any hotel recommendations would be great!!

The beach by the Lexington will have fewer college students. If I were coming with a family, that's where I'd stay because the Gulf beach will be crazy with students and if the weather is bad (as it often is during Spring Break, for some reason) you'll have more options to do things in town. If the weather is nice you can drive to the North Padre, or the National Seashore if you want the Gulf but don't want to worry about cars on the beach.

I can't recommend any hotels, but I've had good luck with Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO dot com) in other locations.

Likewise; I recommend Property Management Companies in Port Aransas, Texas I like the Sunday Villas for a weekend get-a-way. Very nice units just a few steps from the beach, yet close enough to Port A shopping to be easy living.

jbtx, don't you think Port A can be really crazy during Spring Break? It certainly has been in the past.

Personally, we never go to the beach during spring break,,, it's always raining too hard!

Spring Break can be crazy, and has been in the past, however the Port A cops and the Sheriff's beach patrol have really cracked down hard on the Spring Breakers these last few years, it's not as wild now as it has been. In past times there was always a story on the local TV evening news about booze and Spring Break, nowadays, it hardly gets a mention.
