I'm moving to Corpus in May for a job, and I'm interested in the Bay Vista Apartments on Hancock Ave, but I'm concerned about the area. I read that there was recently a shooting in the parking garage... does that sort of thing happen often in the area or was it just a fluke? Is there a significantly greater amount of crime in north Corpus compared to the south side? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

It's a new complex in an older area. I didn't hear about the shooting in the parking garage, but I'd have to say it's a fluke. There are a fair number of homeless people in the area, but I don't think that personal crime is higher than in other places. Have you talked to the managers about the incident?

If I were young and single I'd definitely think about living there. It's a block from the bayfront and if you're a runner or cyclist it's a great location. Also it's close to downtown and while not a lot goes on downtown, it would be nice to be there for the little bit that does.
