No personal experiences but remember his public service announcements. His voice was as country as Dr. Red Duke for the UTHSC promos.

Red Duke was the spokesman for health promos from the University of Texas Health Science Center. Red had a handlebar mustache and was very matter of fact about his information. Always signed off with "From the University of Texas Health Science Center, I'm Dr. Red Duke."

and was EXACTLY the same in person..... i met him once at hermann hospital in 1985 .... and he actually stopped and chatted with me and then helped me move some furniture around in my then-husband's hospital room......

I'm curious why you are asking about others impressions of Jimmy Thompson?.......I think my family lived behind the Thompson family years and years ago - we lived on Everhart, and their daughters use to babysit me......they were like family to us...I have lots of fond memories of them...from my childhood.
