I know everyone is joking about it, but why don't we do something about it. I am moving to CC in a couple of weeks and I plan on working out and losing some of the extra that I have. Maybe we could start a group to walk in the evening or something.

Sopapillas usually make me think of eating sugar lumps with honey!

Wow I have a lot to learn when I get down there. I have never heard of such a thing. Where is a good place to get sopapillas?

Just about any decent Mexican cafe will serve these, sometimes even as a complimentary desert. It's a sort of Mexican donuts-like pastry, (think of fried sweet bread), it looks like a hollow ball, and to eat them you tear a hole in the top and pour in the honey. Guranteed to pack on the pounds.

On top of the Texas love for BBQ, chicken fried steak with cream gravy, grits with butter, queso & corn chips, tamales, tortillas, refried beans and rice; Corpus has the additional advantage of all those deep fried shrimp with french fried potatoes. That is a lot of fat and carbohydrates that all add up.

I confess, I'm a victim too. I've been on the Atkins diet since Jan. 1 this year and have lost 26 lbs. I sure do miss my potatoes and rice.

Dang, I'm getting hungry!

Wow! Congrats on the weight loss.

I just spent 5 days in the Los Angeles area (got back yesterday) and it really dawned on me just how out of shape this place is. Everyone walks their dogs, jogs, bikes -- heck, we even saw 50 year old men who were skateboarding! Their menus had great, light healthy choices, as well.
