This is not really sectarian, but more because Iran is openly supporting the Syrian regime with help from Hezbollah. I am surprised that the Iranian embassy in Syria was not targeted. So it all boils down to Iranian involvement in Syria. I would not be surprised if the Russian embassy is targeted one day also.
