The whole thing doesn't even make sense, because lawsuits drag on for years, and his credit will be wrecked anyway. And after all that, it might be thrown out.

If he really wanted money to pay his bills, he should have gone on gofundme or some other fundraising site.

As the story develops, it appears this guy is an illegal alien on top of all the rest.

In AZ we have the 'stupid motorist law' and he would probably have been sued for the cost of his rescue. Since he knew it was a bad road to begin with his common sense went out the window.
Why doesn't he go out on a limb and sue mother nature for the storm, jeeze. There are so many holes in his lawsuit that I bet if it went to trial the jury would laugh him out of court. He's probably betting on a 'settle out of court' agreement.

How many ways can you spell ass backwards. I know it will complicate situations going forward but people like him will get what's coming to him in time.

You guys need to wise-up and institute a "Good Samaritan" law like we have up here in Canada.

Rescued man shows gratitude by filing lawsuit for $500,000

Hey jerk, guess what? What goes around comes around . . . and karma's a [word that rhymes with the one for a lady who flies around on a broomstick]!

Roy Ortiz has a side. I'm not going to judge anybody.

I read the story.

From the article:

"Ortiz’s brother, Pedro Ortiz, was on the scene moments after Ortiz’s car plunged into the creek.

“And I'm talking to the rescuers and I say, ‘You're losing time, you gotta do something,’” he said. “They didn’t do anything to try and save his life. I talked to the tow truck guy who talked to the rescuers and he said, ‘two are safe, one has died.’”

At the very least, someone with the fire department and the county are negligent. This guy was in the water for TWO HOURS before they decided to check the car for his body? And THEN they found him alive? And his brother was there all along, saying he KNEW his Mr. Ortiz was STILL in the car?
