New Mexico county defies U.S. government over cattle grazing | Reuters

Your county sheriff is the HIGHEST ELECTED law enforcement official - therefore the FEDS have no authority over him or his constituents. Bighorn County Wyoming Sheriff defied the DEA and ATF years ago. He won in FED court in Cheyenne. That became the precedent for subsequent actions against the FEDS. Wyoming Sheriffs Told Federal BATF & IRS Agents To Abide By The Constitution Or Face Immediate Arrest. UPDATED! | Political Vel Craft

Yup. Every once in a while a sheriff does that.

It seldom ends well for them because eventually, they always need some kind of federal help, so there is crow that is eaten. We never hear about that part of the story.

If he had seen the mice, they probably wouldn't be endangered.

Seems to me that the fed's have an authority to protect their land, and the rancher is attempting to take the resources there, turn it into beef through his cow's digestive process, and then sell the beef for profit. Privatizing the money made from consumption of a publicly owned resource.

Who else did that? Wall street.

If it is federal land, he has no right to to it. He is a common thief that happens to own cattle.

Federal land belongs to everyone, not just rich ranchers - but you and me as well.

That is the most ridiculous meme outside of the whole sovereign citizen bs which is amazing considering the number of constitutional whackos who carry around their pocket Constitutions but somehow fail to read the Supremacy Clause.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.

Look at it another way...
The Federal boys, you see, have lifetime job through Civil Service; the County Sheriff is ELECTED! The Feds could always wait out til that Sheriff is voted out - or doesn't seek 're-election.

How did that work out for George Wallace in 1963 Alabama ??

But, I guess state governors hold less authority than county sheriffs.

The Tenth Amendment states the Constitution's principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the federal government by the Constitution, nor prohibited to the States, are reserved to the States or the people.

Worked for him and the citizens of Alabama just fine. The Bill of Rights was suspended by the Federal courts to insure that Negroes now had equal rights, before the 1968 act was brought before Congress.
In fact Negroes weren't allowed to vote in 1963 or 1968 Alabama.

WRONGO!!!

November 09, 2011

"The US District Court ruled in favor of the sheriffs. In fact, they stated, Wyoming is a sovereign state and the duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county and has law enforcement powers exceeding that of any other state or federal official.” Go back and re-read this quote.
The court confirms and asserts that “the duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county and has law enforcement powers EXCEEDING that of any other state OR federal official. And you thought the 10th Amendment was dead and buried — not in Wyoming, not yet."
