HIV/AIDS and Ebola both originated in Africa because tribes there are uncivilized and hunt, butcher and eat animals that were infected (bats, chimpanzees, etc). So, you can say they brought it on themselves.

Perhaps these people, like many Americans, believed that what President Reagan said back in 1986:

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

and so they took what they felt to be the only action available to protect themselves, just as many "preppers" in America are arming themselves to the max in case of just such an encounter.

The Cassandra Crossing.

A subplot of the movie was named for Cassandra, one of the daughters of Priam of Troy who was gifted by Apollo to have prophecy but then cursed by him, for refusing his advances, that no one would ever believe her. How terrible it would be to see the terrible things to come and be unable to prevent them.

Cassandra can be cross identified with the names Alexandra and Kassandra, BUT the movie is "The Cassandra Crossing".
