Perhaps all the mistakes the hospital made that are coming to light made them rethink about their capabilities.

Whatever the reason, the CDC cannot let another person die of ebola in this country....there would be no keeping people calm at that point.
They may be airlifting her because she is in a critical condition, not like the first nurse who was constantly taking her own temperature and she went to the hospital as soon as it started going up.

If that person went into a restaurant do you think everyone there would know her name?

If her picture is out there, you are inviting things far worse than what you think you'll stop. Think this through past the knee jerk reaction.

With a Visa stating his country of origin.

The CDC has ONE JOB. They should have been in there immediately. And taken him away, agreed.

I would think the US could and maybe has cut off new tourist visas. But I am not sure they want to admit that even if they have done it. Opens the classic charge that we only let the rich Africans escape.

And then we have all the Liberians and others who hold American passports. Quarantine them? How about anyone who flies out of DFW?

And the big problem...you end up shutting down their economies. Can't trade or ship stuff or get their people where they need to be. So while fighting Ebola you badly damage the economy.
Ellis Island was quite successful with quarantines.

The difficult part here is what is the role of CDC? Were they expected to jump in with a full crew to handle the mess? Does CDC have such crews standing by? Note that the CDC budget have been slowly eroding for the last 10 years. Did they have room for crews standing by to be dispatched on short notice?

So far it appears the Hospital was the one really unprepared in this fiasco. Apparently unprepared to deal with a high contagion patient. Hard to believe but appears to be true.

Note the four family/friends of Duncan appear still to be free of the disease. The quarantine runs out on Sunday. This would indicate that the disease was not highly contagious even after initial symptoms appear.

So may it be that the Hospital failed to do as well as a sick guy in a small apartment?

But it still would have been much better not to travel - the hospital or CDC should have told the health care workers not to travel.
Hopefully this is indeed the case- so far the initial 48 identified to have direct contact prior to Duncan being isolated 9/28 are showing no symptoms (at least not reported) and the 21 day incubation period ends Sunday.

The college's "update" in response to this making the media is obvious bullcocky, and it's a sad shame you're falling for it.
How is that racism though? The college is afraid to have Ebola there because if they end up with a case of Ebola the college will go out of business in short order. Dallas Presbyterian will not survive this outbreak either. And the daycare next door.

I'm not saying it's right, but this is going to start happening all over if cases grow. A travel restriction would probably benefit them since no one would be fearful knowing they'd been in country for a long enough time.

Anyone who is treating ebola patients needs to be banned from travel for the quarantine period. And I guess you need to babysit these folks since some will violate the directive (as in the second ebola nurse case.
