Swift execution might deter those young Americans on the fence to turn away from joining.

You're not going to deter hardcore Muslim fanatics by death. They seek death in a Jihad to enter heaven and get their virgins and paradise. You can't deter normal hardcore criminals by a death penalty, forget people seeking death. It's like saying we'll stop suicide bombers by having a death penalty for terrorism!

Yeah, I'm not very impressed by people being "tough" behind a keyboard, especially if they never served in the military (I did).

Arrest him, give him a trial, put him in prison for life. Show that we are the United States and people have certain freedoms and protections here on US soil.

And right now we definitely need to support the Kurds in defeating ISIS using air strikes and special forces.

But trying to ban Islam or any of this other nonsense not only doesn't solve the problem, but it defeats the purpose because it turns the USA into a dictatorship, which is what the extremists want anyway.

And like I said most Muslims, especially most American Muslims, are good people.

You share his disease when talking like that, my friend (btw, Im just being nice. Im fully aware we arent friends, lol). This country is founded on freedoms, including religous. Have you even read the Quran?

He converted, and was obviously mentally ill to begin with. Everyone in this country that has a religion they follow is trying to be a better person. That doesnt necessarily mean they succeed in fighting their demons simply because of talking up a religion.

How many murderers have become stellar Judeo-Christians while incarcerated - and how many would succomb to their demons once released into society again?

How about those Judeo-Christians we call the Puritans - didnt they succomb to their demons with their "Witch Trials"?

Wouldnt you think the Native population of this country would have viewed those greedy and murderous Puritans as slime too?
