Had they swiftly and vigorously condemned these wacko extremists, held marches against violence, and stopped trashing Israel and the "Jewish conspiracy" in thousands of talks, articles, and sermons, they could have nipped this in the bud.

Instead, they now have a reputation as the religion of hate, and no amount of denial can counteract this image. Every time a crazy person like this beheading guy hits the news, it just goes to reinforce this unfortunate image.

The Muslims have a PR problem
.
No, they have a doctrine and an acting on that doctrine problem.

It might be true that most criminals are of Christian faith, but the difference is those people are not committing crimes in the name of their religion, they are just criminals that have blood lust or some other major flaw in their thinking.

Most all of the murders that you hear involving Islam point to something that has happened in the past related to their religion in which they were trying to convert others or someone offended them and their religion and they kill in the name of Islam.

Sure there were crimes in the past that were related to Christianity and they were just as sick and shameful, but this is PRESENT time.. it is almost as if some people are giving a pass to all of this violence because another religion did it in the pass. Big whoop, that is a severely flawed thought process.

The "other religions are evil to" rebuff is wearing a little thin. The only religion actively terrorizing the entire planet in 2014 is radical islam. The only totally safe Muslim country that I can think of is Dubai and that's because they only let moderates preach in the mosques.

Yes, my statement was regarding the people in prison who claim they are Christians.

They kill for drugs and other reasons. Don't see many Killers in the US prisons use their Christian faith to murder someone for being a non-believer.

Seems to be a Purely Islamic trait in today's world, here and now.

Read a history book. More people have been killed and more wars fought over religion than anything else. That being said you can't compare modern Christianity(Christ was always about peace, but people during the crusades and much of history manipulated the religion for war.) to current militant Islamic views that are prevalent in much of the middle east. I would hope in the future, the followers of Islam become less extreme and this crazy violent interpretation of Islam becomes a thing of the past just the way the Protestants vs Catholics is an ancient relic.

Agreed. I was referring to the here and now, not 700 years ago.

If you believe the KKK is as big of a threat as extremists in the middle east then I don't know what to say. Let's start a list of terror attacks committed by people in radical Islam vs KKK. KKK is a defeated ideology of a bunch of redneck racists. Unlike Radical Islam, which has a following by a huge amount of followers and are in control of countries and has incredible amount of financing. It's like comparing a neo nazi group to Hitler himself at the height of the third Reich's power.

At the least be consistent and realise all religions have people who kill for their "religion"
