Why is change.org the only place I can find anything about this? I come out of the gate skeptical that this is the true story in this case

I have read and signed many a petition from Change.org and this petition is about the most confusing and poorly written petition I've ever seen.

and why would I want to sign a petition that starts with "I AM" and then asks for my signature. The way it's written makes it sound like I AM writing the letter. The guy should have his name plastered all over the guts of that petition so we, and the VA know who its being written about.
