With all the articles about the police committing unjust acts and getting away with it, its good to see that sometimes justice is served.

Police officer charged after shooting friendly dog

Thank god for the third party witness who was present without the officer's knowledge:

"But Eric Midkiff, the newspaper employee, witnessed the entire incident. Midkiff contends that Arzy never attacked Officer Thierbach, and said as much in his official report. Midkiff confirms that Arzy was indeed wagging his tail, happily greeting Officer Thierbach in a friendly manner. Theirbach shot Arzy when the lovable dog brushed up against him."

Looks like this is one police department that doesn't protect it's bad apples:

"Officer Thierbach submitted his resignation May 7, but the department continued a criminal investigation. Finally, on June 5, a grand jury served Brian Thierbach with an indictment for one count of aggravated animal cruelty. A warrant was issued for Thierbach’s arrest. Thierbach was taken into custody and his bail has been set at $20,000."

Good to hear this, these kind of stories make me so angry. Maybe this will make trigger happy types like this think before firing at an animal that is no threat to them. This creep should also never be allowed to own a firearm.

If a citizen kicks or hits a police dog, that citizen is charged with much more than animal cruelty! This punk should have been charged with 2nd degree murder! Until lawless cops are held accountable to the same degree as anyone else for breaking the law, our justice system is just a sick joke!
