I don't see people dressing up as Holocaust victims, Elliott Rodgers, school shooters or terrorists. Some stuff should be out of bounds.

Looks like I'm in the minority, but I agree with you. There is nothing humorous, light-hearted, or entertaining about domestic violence. That Instagram photo made me feel sick.

How is beating up a woman not controversial? The only people who don't think of that as controversial are people who condone & partake in domestic abuse.

Lots of couples get dressed up as a priest and choirboy and I find that amusing.

What's out of bounds for you may not be for others. There's also an Adrian Peterson costume making the rounds.. Carrying a jersey, a switch and a baby..

I chuckled a little and rolled my eyes at them. To each his own.

Simple. Beating up a woman isn't controversial because it's just wrong. Where is the controversy there? It's pretty much a black and white, cut and dried issue. Not a drop of controversy about it.

For it to be controversial, you would have to be saying that there's reasons that it could ever be right. Since you believe that it is controversial.. Pray tell the reasons that you feel it's OK.

Or, would you like to revisit the dictionary and find a more appropriate word to use? Such as.. Perhaps acceptable would be more tied to your theme.

White terrorist? You mean George W Bush? No, Pat Robertson?

Just not necessary at the end of the day.
