According to the paper this morning, in the 2016 upcoming election, besides California and Nevada, Massachusetts and Arizona will be up for votes on legalizing marijuana as well.

I just gotta Live & Let Live.
So..... I'm assuming you also oppose the legal status of alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and ALL prescription drugs? Just to clear things up, as that it what you said.

Sugar is a drug and is probably more harmful than pot because people consume too much. It causes nonalcoholic fatty liver in excess and can lead to type 2 diabetes along with elevated triglyceride and cholesterol, blood pressure.... Everything in moderation. Nothing wrong with a 6-pack and a blunt after a long hard week at work. Freedom is good. Gotta toss the worker bees a bone to keep em happy.

Not surprising at all! California's last attempt (2012) only failed by a small margin, and of course those "nay" votes were mostly from the central regions... all predictions point to it passing in 2016, and I'd be shocked if it doesn't.

I'm already a medical card holder, so it wouldn't make much of a difference to me - but full legalization is always better IMO. We all know the medical program is (for the majority) simply a loophole to get around recreational-use laws, and it's ridiculous that we've been playing this game for almost 20 years now.

From WebMD (in regards to stinging nettle tea):

Stinging nettle is POSSIBLY SAFE when used appropriately and for less than 6 months. It might cause stomach complaints and sweating. Touching the stinging nettle plant can cause skin irritation. The safety of using stinging nettle long-term is unknown.
Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Stinging nettle is LIKELY UNSAFE to take during pregnancy. It might stimulate uterine contractions and cause a miscarriage. It’s also best to avoid stinging nettle if you are breast-feeding.
Diabetes: There is some evidence stinging nettle above ground parts can decrease blood sugar levels. It might increase the chance of low blood sugar in people being treated for diabetes. Monitor your blood sugar carefully if you have diabetes and use stinging nettle.

You can read more about its possible side effects & drug interactions (quite a few) here: stinging nettle: Uses, Side Effects, Interactions and Warnings - WebMD

Most teas have some caffeine, which is a DRUG, and it can also be used as a diuretic... while I wouldn't classify it as dangerous or anything, it does count under your "a drug is a drug is a drug" belief. And whether you personally partake or not, how do you feel about alcohol, tobacco, coffee, sugar, etc, being legal? How about prescription pharmaceuticals; have you ever taken one in your life? Those are DRUGS too, and you claimed to be against all of those.

When I was a teenager there lived an old man in our neighborhood who was a longtime alcoholic.
My group of friends loved him and we would visit him occasionally. One time when we visited him he had the dt's. He was shaking real bad. We smoked some of our pot with him and instantly, I mean instantly he stopped shaking. I thought that was kind of amazing. In my opinion any drug that could work like that is a good drug

I'm not into anything that would make me high. Yes, alcohol and prescription drugs included. I don't need or want something to get high to help me deal w/ stress, etc.. If I'm feeling that stressed, I'll take a walk, do yoga or something that is healthy. Not get high to escape my own reality or decompress. There's healthier things to do. But like I said, I gotta Live and Let Live. This is how I choose to live MY life.

On a side note. While I'm not a fan of legalized "medical" marijuana, I do understand that a person w/ a terminal illness can benefit (ease their pain, etc) from it. So even though I may not like it, I wouldn't be against a terminally person needing/using it. That's a totally different situation. That person is dying. They're suffering. HUGE DIFFERENCE than smoking weed to just get high. I'm opposed to "recreational" marijuana. I don't want to be on the road w/ some stoned person driving, or where ever else that person may be that could endanger my life or others. It's bad enough w/ drunk drivers on the road. I've experienced enough horror and tragedy w/ drunk drivers. I don't need to experience tragedy w/ someone being stoned. Seriously that is not ok.

Who said it was okay to drive stoned? Why did you feel the need to bring up the obvious?
A side note to that is while neither should be legal I'd rather be driving next to a person high on pot than under the influence of alcohol.

This thread isn't about Desert_Love and her lifestyle.

What is is about is a herb, a plant, that like it or not is out there and some people choose to partake because it because it gives them good feeling. A relatively harmless plant that peoples lives are being ruined and giving them a criminal record when they don't deserve one. Just in my state alone, 23.000 people are being arrested on average per year and it is costing taxpayers 280 million between court costs and/or incarcerating them when the state could reap the benefits of raising tax money instead.

Your "live and let live" statement as well as the "love" doesn't fit here at all. Your position is quite clear to everyone here and you do have the right to form that opinion. But stop with the phony "live and let live" crap. This is nothing but a hate post and an attack on adults who want this choice available to them and to do so legally.

I wish all states would just go ahead and legalize it. That would clear the way for agricultural hemp to be grown. Hemp has so many uses it is ridiculous that it is illegal to be grown in this country. The main reason is law enforcement couldn't tell if it was agricultural hemp or marijuana. If both were legal, that wouldn't be a problem. The hemp industry could create thousands of jobs in this country.
