I searched this forum onbut couldn't find a thread about this incident.

Anyways, sign of the times. Someone endangers their kids and gets 'viral' sympathy and crowd funding.

Mom who left kids in car did not put cash in fund

Quote:
Prosecutors say the mother of three has spent about $4,100 per month, including more than $1,000 in non-essential items such as cable TV, clothing and dining. Prosecutor Bill Montgomery said this week that his patience "has reached its limit."

Pretty sad that she was given $114k in donations and will probably be back on the streets within the year.

Whoever set up the donation fund should have set up a trust to manage the money.
This lady apparently is incapable.

As long as she is taking care of the kids and keeping a roof over their heads then I'm okay with that. I'm sure she knows this money will run out soon and is still out there looking for a job. And if people chose to send money to help her, then it's not much we can say about it.

Famous quote that is still true today- "There's a sucker born every minute"... PT Barnum.

I don't think that quote applies in this situation, I feel it was for a good cause. It applies more toward George Zimmerman. His cause on the other hand...

Bottom Line: As with public (taxpayer) assistance...easy come, easy go.

I am still trying to figure out what her receiving money had to do with a decision not to prosecute her for child endangerment, though.

I originally had sympathy for this woman (did not donate though) because at least she was out there trying to get a job when so many others are sitting on their lazy "you know what's" expecting a never ending paycheck from the government.

I think the judge was fair giving her some leniency as long as certain conditions were met. Since she did not meet all of those conditions (one being the trust fund) then I think the deal should be revoked and she should face the original charges now.

One thing I would have preferred though was rather than having her set up a trust fund for college, which they may or may not go to and is still a long ways off, have the trust set up for daycare expenses and then any balance set aside for secondary education.

She could have used some of the money for job training and a babysitter. As someone said, this is just the mentality of people like her with easy come, easy go money. You see it in tax season, the Child Tax Credit, where they go blow it on a basket full of useless junk and then can't pay the electric bill and the kids have no warm clothing.

My question is......why would she need a trust fund for the kids when they need the money NOW for shelter and food?

Let the future worry about the future.

Also, lots of tv's do not work without cable.
I tried the dtv and it STILL did not work
