I read this story and thought how little it takes for us to be able to really "touch" someone with a random act of kindness....I thought this was a GREAT story in this world of troubled times!

I don't want to sound cynical, but what is so wonderful about this? You're basically being pressured (as is obvious from this chain lasting 250 cars) to pay for the car behind you, so ultimately it's a wash unless you, or the car behind you, are placing a huge order (then you're f-ked). And this is at McDonalds for crying out loud. Your act of kindness is to pay for other people's heart disease and diabetes?

When i opened this thread, I thought I was going to read about truly courageous and generous act of kindness. "A WONDERFUL act of goodness"? Really?

And I love the gratuitous "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" thing. We have to end the War on Christmas sometime . . . Yup.

Mick

Sometimes a small act of kindness is just as powerful as a huge gesture you were expecting MTQ3000.

I see what you mean. At the same time, though, if someone really doesn't want to do it, they don't have to. The person behind them does not have to know that they didn't treat them. Also, sometimes a little light pressure to do something for the greater good is fine. $7-10 in light pressure seems reasonable

I think it's a really inspiring story.

count me among the cynical, but what is the point if everyone is paying for everyone elses food? no one is really getting a free meal because they are just paying for the next person. anonymously paying for several people and just walking off, yeah that's nice. also, mcdonalds? meh...i'd think it much nicer act of kindness somewhere more healthy. i don't know. doesn't seem so special to me. sorry...
