No we cannot change history but a small plaque stating why the races were separated AT THAT TIME would go a long way to explain things. What do you think?
He says talk about switching plaques reminds him of schools that don't want students reading "Huckleberry Finn" because of racially offensive language from the 1800s is in the book.
If we keep going, America will become so "sanitized" that no one is even going to know there was once a civil war or North and South. And they are all of the same "race"...human. Just different ethnicities......

I say keep them separated, that way future inhabitants will know how this country was in the past. And as long as they are not seperating them now, then I don't see a problem. We all know how this country was back then. I am quite sure there are cemetaries that did the same thing.

Reason: spelling

Changing the appearance of history doesn't change the history. There are always those who would like to change history and failing that ability, want to change what is said about it. They'd rather live a lie than accept the truth.
Well we as mature adults know how it was back then but unfortunately there are many young people who haven't a clue about the realities of race separations decades ago. We had our 2 twelve year olds watch SELMA with us and had interesting conversations afterwards. We related Colored (White) Only restroom and hotel and water fountains and they couldn't even imagine such a thing.
They are Vietnamese. We role play lessons in our home so we made White Only and Colored and Asian and Mexican signs and pretended we were traveling together on an overnight trip. They realized how singled out the non white folks (imaginary) in our group would feel. The white folks were cozy in the hotel beds while the non whites had to sleep in the car. This is how many bands and entertainers had to travel. I think it is important our younger people realize just how bad it was and sometimes still is. Only recently did the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club allow women members and that was only under duress.

Hehe...thanks to whoever corrected me. I was in a hurry and thought I spelled it wrong but was too lazy to change it at the time.
Why not just list them by regiment? That would automatically separate them without making it blatant.
