Logan Stiner, a high school senior from LaGrange, was just 18 years old when he died from a pure powder caffeine overdose in May 2014.

His parents, Kate and Dennis Stiner, planned his funeral instead of watching Logan graduate five days later.

My sentiments exactly, this is like those kids who thought it was a good idea to down 10 energy shots in an hour. High amounts of stimulants in a short period of time is always a bad idea.

1) Yes, we're a litigious, "who can I sue?" society. This happens more and more often: someone suffers a tragedy, and s/he or surviving family members figure they might as well be rich.

2) Troubling, too, is the effort to now ban this substance. I'd never heard of it but, apparently, it can be used responsibly. Expect a law named after this young man--and like most of those types of laws, it will infringe on your freedoms.

How likely is it that he took the stuff inappropriately because of the pressure to get good grades to get into the best college?

I wonder, are there any warnings on the package?
Does the package or the proper usage insert describe the consequences of taking too much?
Is there any possibility of suicide?
If I were on that jury, I would have LOTS of questions for both sides!

OK, one question answered:

Read the list of warnings and cautions.

Seriously? Nowhere on a large bucket of KFC does it say we shouldn't eat the whole bucket by ourselves. Do we have a lawsuit if we get sick for doing so?
