isis can kill generations of people which some may label as genocide, destroy villages, behead and burn people to death and put it on the internet to spread their brand of terrorism and the world is like "yeah it is bad but that is what they do"
It takes the destruction of priceless relics, looting of museums and archealogical sites being bulldozed to finally get the world angry enough to be outraged?
I heard something about this Yesterday on NPR radio where they were talking about how people can be slaughtered but what really gets people upset is when their ancestry and heritages are destroyed.
It is a phenomenon that has been witnessed recently when an alquida backed group took over a region, I forget where, and the people did nothing even when some of them were killed. The people didn't rise up until the alquida thugs destroyed ancient statues of Budha. It was the last straw and alquida lost favor and were eventually forced out of the region.
There is also a theory that the relics that were destroyed in the isis propaganda film were actually fakes and that they sold the real items on the black market to raise money.
It was also said that isis may have gone too far this time and they may have lost respect in all parts of the world.
It is strange but the conclusion was that the memory of a people/heritage is more important than the current ones being murdered.
Who were the people that weren't outraged by the beheadings and cage-burnings?
I must have missed it.
Most of us here in the West are outraged by those isis animals. They behead and burn to get our attention because they know how much we value a human life. In many parts of the world death and war is a way of life so no big deal move on.
It is the intelectuals who cherish the relics and as the NPR show suggested the people who were losing their cultural heritage through the actions of alqueda and isis that were the most outraged.
I think it is hard for us to understand how seeing some poor innocent soul who has done nothing wrong except being in the wrong place at the wrong time having his head sawed off isn't sick enough to outrage the world but sadly it isn't.
There has always been a lot of gruesome, disgusting things happening in the world. We just didn't have the internet and cameras on our phones, that's all. Read about the horrors of life 500 years ago. Most people have it great by comparison.
Ya, ISIS is horrible. They are not the first, or the last of evil organizations that seek to spread terror. We're just reminded of their existence every 10 minutes when we watch the news. Most of the things they have been doing have been done a more massive scale in the past. The media is just betting that they can generate better ratings off these acts of horror today. They are probably right.
