You have no problem with public officials wasting public money that could be used for a greater public good, but you think a private entity should be punished over how they want to spend private donations.
(and you don't know for what purposes the private jet would be used)
as to the mega churches, churches IMO should be spending their millions on our communities.
public officials and tax exempt churches are two vastly different things. I said every first family for decades uses air force one. the tax payers pay it. I have no problem with a president or his family when they travel. could they do it cheaper? of course they can. do I worry about it no.
First of all, TITHING is the one thing THE ONLY THING God commands that we test Him on. Anyone who tithes regularly knows they can't afford NOT to. So, as far as mega churches not caring about anything but getting you to give, that's not true. All mega churches started small and grew. Any church that doesn't want to grow is a dead church. However, the bigger the church, the more bills to operate. It is important that members are faithful with tithing. Churches have their budgets and financial statements right out in the open - good ones do. Budgets are usually voted on. (they usually include missions local and abroad)
But this is WAY excessive and unnecessary. Biblically teachers/pastors are judged more harshly and this guy doesn't seem to be concerned about the hereafter. How in the world do they afford to maintain and operate that? Missions have gone on for years without private jets.
That area of Atlanta is fairly depressed, too. But, hey, Joel Osteen is another example and another subject.

I knew, I knew, I knew, even before looking at the video, that this was going to be a black church ! The reason is, I saw a 60 minutes or 20/20 program one time about a preacher like this, and he was up on the pulpit saying things like "The Lord wants me to wear these $ 1500 suits, and he wants me to drive a big Mercedes, etc", and the sheeple in the audience were clapping and cheering as if he were a Rock Star !! They somehow felt that by them giving him these things it was going to reflect on them and make their lives better too !!
Like the one poster said, " You can't make this stuff up !"
Hey, if this shocks you, then hold onto your hats while you check out this church - owned house he lives in, and all the rest. I used to work with people who went to his church. They truly believe his spiel that if you give money to God, you will get it back many times over. It's the gospel of the materialist and greedy.

No they say lets pray for her. Granted prayers are important, but donations get things done.
Who needs the money more?
Heck if everyone here on CD donated just the cost of a cup of coffee to her it would make a difference.
Yet this "pastor" wants $300 per person so he can have a luxury jet.
And the faithful, who have their hearts in the right place, but are blinded by that same faith give money to the huckster just because he claims God is telling them to do so.
Can you post his mailing address? I wanna send 'em a couple hundred.
It just breaks my heart to see men of God struggling day to day without adequate transportation and the ignorant selfish American populace just stands by idly not even caring.
It just goesto show you how far we have fallen as a country and how badly we really do need Jesus now.
