No one has indicated this baby's life was worthless. No one knows why the perpetrator did what she did. If it turns out she is mentally ill can I assume you will be speaking out for more services for mental illness so this kind of thing doesn't happen more?

not until you explain how pointing out loopholes in the law that fail to recognize this baby as an actual taken life equates to 'exploiting this family.'
I don't know... is it just me or does it not seem as if the grievous bodily harm done to the unborn child's mother not in itself constitute a very serious crime (especially if she dies)?? What am I missing. I admit, I don't know the story but... what am I missing? An adult has been seriously, maybe fatally, harmed by another adult. Very clear IMO. Those who want to saddle the case with abortion politics are not seeing the forest for the trees.
