Sounds like it may be a case of postpartum psychosis. We don't know all the facts yet.
Could be. I had that thought. In any event she will still go to jail. Postpartum Depression won't get her off.
She's been sent to prison and rightfully so.

"Jessica Lacey McCarty Allegedly Murders Her Children, Stands Outside With A Knife In Florida"
Sounds like she is their best suspect, which unfortunately is a normal assumption. Family has the best opportunity to kill someone, as they are the most trusted and have the easiest access. It wouldnt be allegedly if anyone saw or she confessed though.

There is a difference between postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. Psychosis a person who is psychotic cannot tell reality from make believe. Look at Andrea Yates.
With a 5 month old I would also guess at Postpartum Psychosis. As a childbirth professional, I can guarantee that it is different then postpartum depression.

I see my faux pas. Thanks. Post Partem Depression vs. Post Partum Psychosis...
Very sad......... I hope she is happy where she is going!!!!!!!
Poor kids
Erm... no, I don't think she will be happy spending the rest of her life in jail as a convicted child killer. And ... aside from the unimaginable terror of their final moments... poor kids? How would we know? It might be they are better off. Life with a nutbag like her might not have been any picnic, and could have gone one for a long time. I hate platitudes, can you tell? Americans do platitudes real well, but if America were a healthier place, mentally, we wouldn't need to fall back on platitudes all the time, because #$%# like this wouldn't happen nearly as often as it does in America. In Europe a crime like this is a once in 3 years occurrence. In the U.S. its every other month! We need to fix that. The energy wasted on pointless platitudes could be put to better use.
You don't 'buy' mental illness?
Do you 'buy' diabetes? How about cancer?
