LOS ANGELES, March 26 (Reuters) - A former Los Angeles police officer's father, who authorities say helped his son flee across the border to Mexico to avoid facing murder charges, was arrested on Thursday and accused of lying to federal agents, the FBI said.
Victor Solis, 53, was taken into custody at a home where he lived in Lancaster, east of Los Angeles, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. He was expected to make an initial appearance in federal court later on Thursday afternoon.
His son, Henry Solis, who was a probationary Los Angeles police officer at the time, is accused of shooting Salome Rodriguez Jr. to death on March 13, in downtown Pomona, California following a fight there.
As much as I hate the police abuse that goes on so much in this country I find what the father did is perfectly natural and normal and what parents are supposed to do. Parents are supposed to protect their kids. It is ridiculous that the government persecutes parents and children and siblings for aiding their flesh and blood.

Of course, the government should look the other way every time someone helps out a family member in committing, covering up a crime or evading the justice system, after all, when family is involved, its no longer a felony but "doing the right thing."
Yes, when you love your children you help them get away with their crimes without being punished. Anyone who believes this has no right to complain about crime rates and violence in "inner cities".
