As usual, Giggles the socialist whines again about supposed "injustice":

Quote:
In a speech at Lehman College in New York City, the president said lack of economic opportunity for young people of color in inner cities helped fuel the protests that have been seen in Baltimore, Ferguson, Missouri, and elsewhere across the country in recent months

Mr. Obama said it’s vital that the nation turn its attention to improving the lives of blacks and Latinos, particularly those in rough neighborhoods or trapped in failing schools.

Well, Obama, you've had 6 years to give them some opportunities. Are you going to blame it on the republicans?

Race relations are at the lowest point in the last 20 years. Good job, Mr. President!

I'm sorry..the "schools" aren't failing.

A school is a reflection of its community.
Take all those students and put them in a wealthy suburban school and they will still fail.

The irony here is that Obama is admitting that his economic policies over the past 7 years have completely failed the common person. This despite spending trillion$ and telling us how good things are at every opportunity.

i.e. He has told so many lies that he can't keep them straight anymore. Of course the USA media won't ask him about this.

50 years of Democratic rule and billions of dollars invested and they still haven't fixed the problem.

Not to mention the BILLIONS spent since President Johnson's "war on poverty" and a commission to find out the "root causes" and yet, we're still blaming the same thing they blamed back then.

Isn't the very definition of insanity when you do the exact same things over and over and expect a different outcome?

Ok first, you are using a massively biased source, so the article is hardly influential or even credible. I surmise, due to the boorish and crass names you use for the POTUS, that the purpose of this thread is not to intellectually debate the pros and cons of Obama's proposed program, but simply to insult the president and encourage the rest of the usual suspect Obama-haters to jump on the bandwagon.

Second, I'm guessing you have never studied the behavioral sciences, because the fact is he's right. Terrorists have also always recruited from the young, poor and hopeless--they feel they have nothing to lose and turn to violence.

Third--that you believe the gist of his speech is " freakin lack of opportunity...not personal responsibility" reflects that you have not really read the speech, or even know the actual purpose or goal of the speech.

Fourth--that you believe Obama is blaming America implies (1) that you are taking this very personally, and therefore replying defensively, and (2) you are extremely over-sensitive to any critical thought regarding this country.

"My Brother's Keeper Alliance, a private sector non-profit organization that takes its name from an initiative started by Obama, is designed to raise money for local programs devoted to education, reading, mentoring, job training and other efforts that can expand economic opportunity and turn young men away from despair and violence...Protests and even violence are fueled by a "sense of unfairness and powerlessness and lack of opportunity...The My Brother's Keeper Alliance that Obama announced includes business and faith leaders, as well as athletes, entertainers, and other volunteers...Among the goals: Helping lower high school dropout rates, reduce crime rates, and ramping up employment."

His goals and program sounds admirable. He's rounding up people who have the resources and abilities to be decent role models--he's not asking for anything from the general public. That you and the biased right-wing media can twist it into something negative, for some reason, does not surprise me.

Obama promotes 'My Brother's Keeper' program
