Exactly. To refute what the one person said--to me, short of REAL abuse, children ARE "chattel" in terms of the parents authority to raise them however they see fit no matter what anyone thinks of their methods. The parent's authority should be ABSOLUTE short of whippings and molestations etc, and people who would DARE interfere should be dealt with in ways written about in ancient Medieval torture books. (That most certainly includes nosy busybodies who pick up the phone and call the Mafia, er, social services.)

They live in a tent ... and the thing has a fence instead of walls! They get their water from a pond! They don't bother to educate their children! One of their own children testified against them! They've been investigated before! The husband has threatened neighbors with a gun!
Contrary to what you think, children are not CHATTEL owned by their parents. Parents do not have the right to raise children in unhealthy conditions or to keep them uneducated and ignorant so that they have a supply of dependent laborers who have no options except to work for nutcase dad and mom.
"Simpler life-style" my butt! The Amish live a "simpler life-style" but they live in houses NOT in tents and they educate their children not leave them ignorant!
Right away you begin with name-calling and insults, why? Because it's a lifestyle you disagree with, that means it must be bad? Way to bring race into it by the way. Which has nothing to do with this.
How are they uneducated? There is more to learning than sitting in a crowded classroom 7 hours a day taking tests.

There is no evidence these children are unhealthy or being denied anything. They should be left alone unless they find something.
