Exactly. To refute what the one person said--to me, short of REAL abuse, children ARE "chattel" in terms of the parents authority to raise them however they see fit no matter what anyone thinks of their methods. The parent's authority should be ABSOLUTE short of whippings and molestations etc, and people who would DARE interfere should be dealt with in ways written about in ancient Medieval torture books. (That most certainly includes nosy busybodies who pick up the phone and call the Mafia, er, social services.)

They live in a tent ... and the thing has a fence instead of walls! They get their water from a pond! They don't bother to educate their children! One of their own children testified against them! They've been investigated before! The husband has threatened neighbors with a gun!

Contrary to what you think, children are not CHATTEL owned by their parents. Parents do not have the right to raise children in unhealthy conditions or to keep them uneducated and ignorant so that they have a supply of dependent laborers who have no options except to work for nutcase dad and mom.

"Simpler life-style" my butt! The Amish live a "simpler life-style" but they live in houses NOT in tents and they educate their children not leave them ignorant!

Right away you begin with name-calling and insults, why? Because it's a lifestyle you disagree with, that means it must be bad? Way to bring race into it by the way. Which has nothing to do with this.

How are they uneducated? There is more to learning than sitting in a crowded classroom 7 hours a day taking tests.

They get their water from ponds.. okay? You get yours from rivers, streams and lakes. Boiled water is fine.

They've been investigated before.. once again, your point? Probably for something just as stupid.

Do you even know what the gun incident was about? How do you know the neighbor didn't threaten first in some way? It could be the father wanting to protect his family.. shocking right?!

There is no evidence these children are unhealthy or being denied anything. They should be left alone unless they find something.

Hopefully, for the 1st time in their lives, some of these kids will now stand a chance of doing what their parents couldn't..making it in society.

That man has 11 kids and 1 on the way, some people breed like rats!. Those living conditions are beyond living off the grid not much better than a homeless camp.

Under the common law, the parents own their children.
Under voluntary national socialism (via FICA), parents only have "custody" of the wards of the state.
. . .
Didn't you read the "fine print" ?
