I don't blame her actions, but clearly she had to know there would be repercussions.

Starbucks is grossly expensive for what it is- and the reality is, you're paying for an experience.
They get paid better than other counter service jobs and have benefits that are far beyond what a service position in most other places would have.

In return, they need to be stellar at what they do.
I think the company did a good job with damage control and should certainly fire her, or transfer and set a very high goal for achievement (3 customer written compliments a month for the next 3 months or termination).

We have a very competitive environment for jobs these days.
It's a shame that in Queens Starbucks is still not going to come close to living wage, but that behavior just isn't part of the Starbucks culture.

If a customer was getting as out of line however, I'd appreciate an employee recording the altercation and posting that on the Internet as well, and a manger giving them the boot or calling the police.

Default What ever happened to small coffee shops

Starbucks is an anomaly and a phenomenon. They are really selling an atomosphere more than a product. Their coffee is no better than Dunkin donuts for instance.

Naw, Walmart employees talk to customers that way all the time. "Do you have a receipt for that, or are you stealing it?"

One of her former supervisors said that she had been treating customers like that for many years. All the corporation would do about it, is transfer her to another store each time customers complained.

It's pretty obvious from her attitude in the video, that she did not think there would be repercussions.

Employees who are willing to work crap hours for crap pay, have job security in a job like that. Because all these corporations care about is their profits. They don't care about you as a customer, and never will. They just want to have the lowest paid employees, making the lowest quality coffee, and selling it for the highest possible price.

So true! I was on the subway, and a guy stood on some ladies foot. The verbal abuse that came from her mouth was outstanding. As she got off, he said, "next time get a limo......" Made my day........
