Interesting how responses to this thread line up -- some are concerned about the effect of this incident on the kids, while others are more offended about the cats.
I don't think any of us are concerned with one over the other. Saying "poor kitty!" does not in any way mean the poster doesn't also care about the kids... where would you get an idea like that from??
It's not, animal abuse is animal abuse it doesn't matter what animal it is or who sees it. Should dogfighters that fight with a crowd be charged more than others who don't?
The point is, most people know that hurting small defenseless animals is often the beginning of hurting small defenseless children. It doesn't always wind up like this but it can. If I were these children's parents, granny would not be allowed near my kids ever again.
If the parents are as sick as granny, I would hope child protective services would step in and investigate the entire family.
As for the cats, there are no words. I love cats but even if I didn't I could never justify killing an innocent creature to "teach children a lesson." That was no reason. A sane person does not kill especially in such a heinous manner in order to teach children anything. This monster took pleasure in hurting both the animals and the children. Make no mistake, her intentions were not to teach the kids a lesson but to traumatize them. Her intentions towards the animals were to maim and kill them.
She needs to be removed and isolated from Society where she can't harm others; people or animals.
This is horrifying! Why would this even be logical? Inflicting horrible cruelty and needless death on a defenseless mother cat and her kittens - because your grandchildren did not clean their rooms? .
Just plain nauseating.
Animal abusers are sick individuals. Now animal abuse is a felony in all 50 states.
It is my hope that this deranged sadist is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Uh, no. Pedophiles physically and mentally destroy children for life. What this "person" did was horrible, but she didn't do it in front of the kids nor did she physically harm the kids (that we know of). Pedophiles who act on their urges are the worst of the worst.
