In Memory of
Michael O.D. Brown
May 20, 1996 - August 9, 2014
This here plaque is for my dead son.
He got shot while tryin' to be takin' the gun.
From a cop he done saw, while on the streets.
And now he be layin' - in the coroners sheets.
He done robbed a place, to get some smokes.
He was hangin' with some narly folks.
He leaves an echo of shots that ran out.
That hands up don't shoot thing, never came about.
He be likin' the tears you know, of those who grieve.
He'd pay you the twenty, rolled up in his sleve.
This thug is now dead, brought about by his crimes.
Anyone thinking this memorial is ok, is way behind the times.
The guy committed a strong-arm robbery on the day he was shot, but he's being made out to be a hero just because he was black and was shot by a white man?
......
And, the first day someone is put into prison they are issued a bible.
Maybe if you let Johnny have that bible in school when he was young, he wouldn't BE in prison today...
You do have a point there. Talk to prisoners facing a long sentence and they are all sorry, "saved" and ready to be forgiven.
I don't care about the plaque or if they tied ribbons or balloons to a tree but that old memorial sure was an eyesore. When I drove by it looked like an illegal dumping site. When did the tradition of throwing toys and stuffed animals at the scene of a death on the road start anyway ? Seems like a waste of money.
There are a few burned out buildings they should leave to memorialize Mike Browns legacy.
That would be more fitting and appropriate.
Aren't they doing that? I thought some of the chain stores said they're not coming back.
I wouldn't.

What revolution?
It sparked riots that hurt a lot of individuals financially.
Riots because a repeat offender finally pushed too far and got shot.

Courts found the cop not guilty. None of the evidence presented painted him as guilty, other than witnesses who couldn't get their stories straight.

The parents and media stories were largely fabricated for publicity to create a specific image.
Over a short period the image of the parents completely changed. Somebody else was picking their clothes and telling them what to say.
How pathetic! Yeah, let's honor a good for nothing, thieving thug.
