Police Shoot Tear Gas to Disperse Hot 97 Summer Jam Crowds, 61 Arrested | NBC New York

I guess these thug animals cowards thought this was gonna be just like Baltimore. NJ State Troopers showed them and arrested 61 of these animals. But when you listen to music which glorifies shooting, women as hoes and killing cops what do you expect. They should charge the venue and entertainers for the damage and no welfare payments to the 61 arrested until restitution is made. Great job to the NJ State Pokice for controlling these animals. This is how Baltimore should have been handled.

I'm shocked, shocked, that violence would take place at a rap concert!

Artists Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Big Sean
Aside from maybe Chris Brown, I'd hardly label these artists as guys making music which glorifies shooting, women as hoes and killing cops. And even in the case of Chris Brown, while there's controversy over his violent actions, his music definitely isn't about anything you mentioned. But what else is new? Just because it's labeled a "rap" concert, one must assume the subject matter is some N.W.A. type stuff, right?
Newsflash: Not all rap is about what you mentioned, just like not all rock is devil-worshiping, wrist-cutting nonsense.
I guess famed rapper Will Smith also glorified shooting, women as hoes and killing cops.

The rap and hip hop music of the 90's was nothing like it is today. This is why we have the issues we have

It was generally just as bad, if not worse...

While I in no way condone much of current rap's lyrical content, I'll repeat that the artists headlining this concert do not rap/sing about the subjects you wrote.

People must've forgotten about Eazy-e, NWA, Tupac, etc... Music back then was blatantly more graphic back then than it is today.

One of the artists did encourage the crowd aggression against the police. He should be arrested and charged.

An agenda is the whole idea. For as much as I am not fond of most hip hop artists or the music they have put out, I try to keep things in perspective. Rap concerts aren't the only kind of concerts where riots have occurred. It's happened at punk rock concerts, It's happened twice with Guns N' Roses.

There is something I do want to say. I don't want to open up a can of worms. I feel like this might be about more than just rap music.
