"But on Tuesday, Anmyx removed the sign and replaced it with one that reads, “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who would violate our rights of freedom of speech & freedom of religion."

A much better sign.
How so? How is anyone of whatever persuasion walking into a store and buying a paint brush violating the store owner's rights?
I think it is just a statement that in a country that was truly free, like it use to be, a private property business owner should be able to decide who he wants on his property and wants to association and do business with. And also the concern of progressives and gays to infringe on first amendment religion and free speech rights. It's a valid concern in general.
You have private property rights, right of association and 1st amendment rights that some feel are being infringed.
Right up until some utility company deems his property necessary to put an electrical sub-station on; then gays will have been the least of his worries with eminent domain not giving one rip of a thought for his religious beliefs.

So you're seriously suggesting that it's OK to hang a "No men allowed" sign or "No women allowed sign?" How about "No ugly people" allowed signs? He can just claim ugly people violate his religious beliefs about being exposed to people who are offensive to his visual senses
Really now? Substitute the words "No Gays Allowed" with "No Blacks Allowed" and we shall see how well that goes! It's called Discrimination and if you want to selectively pick your customers you shouldn't be in business to begin with or be prepared to face lawsuits. It's funny how people now hide their hatred and bigotry behind the term "Religious Liberties"!
You think those people want blacks, either?
Please.
The kind of people who do this stuff are beyond reasoning with.
Just like Isis, they will use their 'religious beliefs' to back up any type of bad behavior.
I don't know of any religion (except maybe the Westboro Baptist kooks) that actually teaches that it's against their faith to do business with homosexuals or anyone else they deem to be a sinner. This is just another example of a right-wing Christian nutjob who has completely misconstrued the actual teachings of his Church, and uses that as justification to discriminate.

Well since his religious beliefs are biblical should he ban people from his store who eat shellfish too?
