This guy clearly has a screw loose.

Before the apologists come in with their lame excuses, let me say it's pathetic the way some of you are trying to manipulate the discussion. Unless this type of thing is exposed with people being outraged, it's unlikely to stop. You're only proving you want it to continue by protesting against threads like this.

If you are referring to the cop... it would appear that he has a few anger management issues.

What I saw was that the man went for the cop and got a severe beating because of it. Lesson learned, don't attack a cop.

Yep, That guy deserved to get a beat down after daring to raise his hand to a cop, no telling what kind of weapons he could have been hiding. The cop could have been killed.

Cops are all pigs. My cousin was a cop and was just like these meatball roid ragers. He was the kind of guy who tortured cats and dogs. He's dead now though because he got drunk and drove himself into a tree. Good riddance. The worst thing that usually happens to these guys is they get a paid vacation on the taxpayer's dime until the department sorts out the mess.

Nanabush you sound like a very hateful person. Painting a whole group of people with the same brush. What an intelligent, classy individual you must be.

He was beaten before he even got to the cell. And in the cell, he's a drunk probably responding to being beaten and being called something I can't print here. Is he wrong? Yes. Is that cop out of control? Absolutely.

Maybe you didn't watch the rest of the video. Even his partner alludes to the fact that he's a problem.

This will be an unjustifiable use of force and he will be disciplined or fired for it

We can only use that amount of force which is;

Reasonable.. necessary and fully justified by the circumstances.

The force during the swing... reasonable... everything before and after... no way

There is no payback time

Stupid really... forfeit your livelihood for a drunk who took a swing at you,,,, and who now will get paid ,,,,

OP... I do notice that you seem to regularly find "bad" cop posts ... (some to many end up being not bad cops but poor perception on the part of others,,, here we have a policeman that is out of control and doing things grossly outside use of force policies anywhere,,,,)

Do you feel the need to find all the idiots we have out there?...

Disciplined or fired? lol, this is the problem right here. What this cop did is called assault. get it. He should be ARRESTED and processed just like any other perp. If thats anyone but a cop on that video, you get arrested. All this clown is gonna get is some paid time off. This is a big part of the problem. They are above the law so they suffer no real consequence for this type of behavior. They always wanna go on and on about how cops are held to higher standard right up until they get caught breaking the law, then all of a sudden its about how some harmless shoving or even attempted punch by a perp justifies a 1 min beat down session because he feared for his life. This cop wasn't hurt, he wasn't scared or in fear of his life, he was outraged that this guy actually tried to push back.

I think maybe the OP is just rightly trying to point out that its very possible that you may find yourself on the receiving end of one of these officers display of "idiocy" as you call it. If your not properly submissive, prompt enough with the yes sirs and no sirs, or if your knowledge of constitutional rights and/or legal police procedures interfere with their ability to do whatever they want, you run the real risk of winding up like this guy or worse.

So its more like a PSA in that regard.

The cop was dead wrong. The victim was dead wrong for intoxicating himself to such a lowly, pathetic, sad-excuse-for-a-human-being state. Neither gets my support, but the cop was in the position of power...and he abused it.
