I read that this has happen so much at the Grand Canyon also. People go out on the edge, clearly off of the marked trail to get a shot that looks "awesome".

Selfies have opened a whole new era for the Darwins.
I couldn't help but think of the Darwin Awards when I saw all these interviews with people on the So. Carolina coastline who lived in ramshackle small homes & trailers talking about how they would just "ride it out" during the hurricane. Most of them were obviously not Rhodes Scholars but they couldn't even digest the pictures on their TV's of Florence bearing down on their low level huts.
We spent who knows how many tax dollars, & potential first responder lives, by having to rescue these near Award winners afterwards.
Aaron Howard deserves an award. After being told numerous times by 2 people with guns in their hands to back off or they will kill him, Howard's last words were "hand me that baseball bat!"
