That has been mentioned at least 100 times in the confederate flag threads, but it seems the idiots cannot seem to get it in their heads. It's not on their agenda so they choose to ignore that fact. It was on a Confederate memorial on the grounds.
It's a damned shame that the confederate flag from the civil war was still flying at the state Capitol. It's coming down truly symbolizes that the states are united. Maybe not symbolically but literally. I see nothing wrong with people flying that flag on their personal property; please do so we can see how you think. I predict great things for South Carolina. Now they can join us in the 21st century. If Governor Haley is brave enough to make these kind of decisions, I'd consider her to run our country.
And racist people will remain racist unless challenged in their thinking. Casual displays of racist symbols in their environment, not less so if their government is doing the display, does not help in doing that.

I always find it odd that people don't think that symbols have meaning and can affect actions. That's the whole point of a symbol.

We have been in the 21st century. We have one of the best economies in the country, even with a battle flag over a memorial. This whole thing has become such a joke and a waste of tax dollars. Now the flag is down I expect nothing to change, except many state senators to be out of a job.

I thought it was flying on the grounds of the Statehouse?
